Propulse Analytics

Propulse Analytics offers a recommendation engine for e-commerce retailers. It uses Machine learning to analyse product’s images and customer purchases history in order to determine what the shopper is looking for and what other products they might want to purchase.

My work in this project is to design and develop the backend service and the recommendation engine that powers this application. The project can be divided in different sections which are

• The Offline data processing processes.
• The REST Service to the recommendation Engine.
• The Event Processing, that tracks e-commerce events and provides data analytics

Qivo

Qivo is a social network to share articles and media content about different topics and interests. I participated in the development of the recommendation engine using different collaborative filtering algorithms in order to yield personalized content recommendations for the users. The second system I develop was an article extraction tool that extract an article from an web page and remove boilerplate content.

The NEX band

The NEX band is a wearable device and a mobile application that can be used to control different connected devices or applications. It also let you play and share different colorful light patterns. In this project I participated in the development of the backend web service for the NEX band application. The application communicates with different API services such as the IFTTT service and different other API and social networks, to allow the interaction between the band and different service and connected devices. For example, one can use the band to control a media player, control your house’s lights, play a light pattern when there’s is a specific type of event happening in one of your social network, etc … The technologies that I used in this project development are:

I worked for CAE’s civil aerospace division for the Customer Support department. My responsabilities in this position were to solve software and hardware issues on the customer’s flight simulators. I worked as part of the Generalists group, which were in charge of solving problems related with the simulation core software and the interfaces between the systems and other electronic devices.

Project: Movie Audio Track Information Retrieval

Research and develop algorithms to retreive information from movies audio tracks with the following features:

1. Audio Fingerprinting for movies: Be able to locate an audio sample in a database of movies, at the precise moment with millisecond precision.
2. Audio Cues Detection: Be able to detect and identify different cues in movies, from the movie audio track, such as explosions, gunshots, sirens etc..

Project: Music Information Retrieval

Research and develop algorithms to retreive information from music with the following features:

1. Automatic identification of cues points in the music, when there’s acoustical musical changes.
2. Automatic identification of acoustic similarities in the song.
3. Automatic remixing of songs using the song’s cues points and acoustics similarities.
4. Automatic creation of song loops.
